So when I was a little kid and people asked me what I wanted to do when I grew up, I'm pretty sure I never said anything to the extend of, "When I'm 22, I want to be living with my parent...s-ish: my dad and "step-mom" (I don't really think of her as one, more like my dad's wife...), working at a job with no benefits for $12 an hour."...memories are often skewed by a lack of maturity, but I think I can assume that with confidence.
However, thankfully, that phase of my life has ended. That's right, now I'm officially unemployed. So, my long, arduous seven months with no paid time off have accumulated into a week (or more) of unpaid vacation (or staycation, to use the savvy mass-media term...although technically UN-staycation, I suppose). Fortunately, I have two interviews this coming week, so that will incorporate some element of forced showering and shaving into my otherwise lethargic week ahead.
There's still a small hope that UGA Law will miraculously give me the nod, instantly giving credence to my last seven months of otherwise mediocre existence. Now don't think I am completely pessimistic. My job has given me valuable insight into how a law office functions (or tries), as well as a vague, self-discovered understanding of the legal system. I have also learned the value of a short commute (ten minutes to get to work...thank you very much).
Despite the lack of certain perks at my job, I will retire from my corner office and no longer have anyone bring me letters to sign. *Sigh* It will be 20 years before I get to that point again. I guess I'll have to pretend to be important from now on - if only there was space on my business card for something to the effect of, "Had a corner office at 22." - of course, I'd actually have to have a business card for that to be possible...perhaps I'm getting ahead of myself here (which is the story of my life, by the way).
Anyway, I may get addicted to this whole blog thing, but the jury's still out on that one...
Yesss! Welcome. And well done my friend, well done. I will add you to my list.
